New release of the Domaine Eden Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains from Mount Eden winery - one of the best buys in Pinot Noir this year.
95 Points Wine Enthusiast **#9 in the Enthusiast 100 of 2016** and an *Editors' Choice*: " While this wine’s Mount Eden sister bottling may better stand the test of time, the Domaine Eden Pinot Noir is what most people will most like to drink right now, and it’s cheaper too. Aromas of dried violets, uncrushed boysenberries and pencil lead make for an ethereal nose that seems to hold secrets one must uncover. Precise tannins on the palate offer floral yet savory flavors of black sesame, nori, violet and mulberry. It’s mellow yet mysterious."
93 Points Robert Parker: "A fabulous introduction to the Domaine Eden Pinot Noir is flat-out beautiful in the way it captures the essence of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the house style. Sweet dark cherries, flowers, mint and herbs caress the palate. There is a purity of fruit that is stunning in its beauty. Partial use of whole clusters (20%) gives the wine much of its fragrance, but ultimately the Domaine Eden bottling is all about class. At $35 it represents one of the very finest buys in Pinot Noir from anywhere, including the hallowed vineyards of Burgundy. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020."

Mount Eden's Edna Valley Chardonnay is one of our best value Chardonnay discoveries - get it before this vintage sells out!
94 Points Robert Parker: "The Mount Eden Chardonnay Wolff Vineyard from Edna Valley is pure, energetic and fresh this vintage. The nose is lovely, loaded with floral perfume and ripe citrus fruits. The palate is silky and expansive with a shimmering mineral character and a long, pure finish. It improved over the two to three days it was open and will benefit from a long decant."
92 Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The Mount Eden Chardonnay Wolff Vineyard is bright, nuanced and so expressive. Lemon peel, tangerine oil, dried flowers, chamomile and orchard fruit accents give it a striking sense of translucence. Bright and sculpted, the 2018 is outright fabulous. This old-vine, low-yielding site produces a Chardonnay of real distinction. Harvest took place in late October."
After many years of drought impacting yields, the historic Wolff Vineyard is back into full swing and once again Mount Eden's Edna Valley bottling bears it's name and the old vine designation.
For those wine drinkers who gravitate toward moderate alcohol, trim, focused, earth-driven flavors and brightness in the finish, this is your kind of wine and it has been awarded one of the "Year's 100 Best Buys" by Wine and Spirits Magazine. Jean-Pierre Wolff farms 55 acres of Chardonnay vines in the bucolic Edna Valley, outside the town of San Luis Obispo. Originally planted in 1976 by Edna Valley wine pioneer Andy Macgregor (Wolff purchased the property from Macgregor in 1999), the vineyard is the oldest in the Edna Valley. We have made Chardonnay from these vines since 1985. These mature vines typically yield two to four tons per acre

New Chardonnay release from Mount Eden's Domaine label.
94 Points Wine Enthusiast: "This more affordable cousin to the Mt. Eden brand the Domaine Eden Chardonnay is just as good, though different. It presents dairy aromas of brie cheese rind and yogurt but in a deliciously approachable way, with diced chives, caramelized pear and citronella elements. The palate shows tremendous energy, with lots of lime and lemon pith, but also a sour-cream richness."
The Domaine Eden 2018 Chardonnay blend this year was 60% from Mount Eden's estate vines and 40% from Domaine Eden. The grapes were picked by hand and crushed within three hours of harvest, barrel-fermented in Burgundy barrels and aged on the lees for ten months. This wine is icy clean, vibrant and mineral in style with flavors of citrus zest, quince and spring flowers. For lovers of precision and delicacy in the expression of Chardonnay, this is it.

New release of the Domaine Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains from Mount Eden winery - one of the best buys in California Cabernet this year.
92 Points Wine Enthusiast: "The more affordable little sister of Mount Eden, this wine, which is bolstered by 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, offers black plum, wet river stones, dusty herbs and wood spice on the nose. The palate focuses on minerality, structure and savory flavors, including subtle lavender and black plum. The structure will last for ages. Drink 2020–2036. Matt Kettmann."
91 Points Antionio Galloni (Vinous): "The Domaine Eden Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, pliant and fruity, with lovely aromatic nuances that add an attractive upper register to the red cherry and plum fruit. Sweet floral overtones develop with a bit of time in the glass. The 2016 offers tons of fleshiness in the understated, gracious style of the year here. Best of all, it will drink well upon release. Domaine Eden is a terrific source for highly nuanced wines that convey plenty of Santa Cruz Mountains character at mid-tier prices, all in the same super-classic style found at sister property Mount Eden."
