The Altamura 2013 Sauvignon Blanc comes from the winery's 4-acre 18-year-old dry-farmed vineyard which sits at an altitude of 850 feet. The wine is fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months resulting in a wine of great depth and complexity, displaying the flavor and textural profile more like a white Bordeaux than a California Sauvignon Blanc. Very limited production of 500 cases.

The Buoncristiani Brothers proudly present the new release of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Achieving their desired style and profile for their first release was accomplished through careful vineyard and clonal selection, proper maturity at harvest, and very specific handling of the juice on the gentle path towards bottling. Complex aromas of lemon zest, white peach, ripe ruby grapefruit, orange sherbert, floral muscat, vanilla, and lemon cream pie entice the senses. On the palate, a creamy texture leads the way to layered flavors of mango, green melon, nectarine, key lime pie, honeysuckle and vanilla wafer. Zesty citrus flavors, tropical fruit and ultra bright acidity linger in the crisp and clean finish. Highly recommended.

This wine is filled with a gorgeous perfume of honeyed pears, guava, lemon grass, pink grapefruit and a waft of lemon lime soda. The palate is full of tropical flavors and delicate kiwi plus a greatintensity of lemon and lime citrus flavors. The semillon and viognier added to the blend invoke another level of complexity with flavors orange blossom and lemon curd. The barrel fermentations add a satiny texture, density and viscosity to the mid-palate of the wine. The concrete adds a touch of flint and mineral to the finish of the wine while the stainless steel fermentations preserve the natural Sauvignon Blanc aromatics, the racy backbone and the zesty crispness..

The 2014 HALL Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc balances expressively ripe fruit with bright, buoyant acidity. The backbone of this lusty blend hails from a vineyard partner in the cool region of Yountville and delivers ripe vibrant citrus flavors. Fermented mostly in stainless steel tanks and refrained from malolactic fermentation, this Sauvignon Blanc possesses an assured fruit forwardness, freshness, and focus. The grapes were harvested at the height of ripeness and stirred the yeast lees after fermentation. The result is a rich wine with layered texture. Aromas of pink grapefruit and Meyer lemon blossom are complemented by a lush cascade of guava and lychee on the palate carrying through to a crisp, ringing finish.

We're already big fans of this winery's Cabernet Sauvignon, and now we love their sauvignon Blanc sourced from a ranch on the eastern side of Napa Valley about three miles south of the winery. The fruit is whole-cluster pressed and fermented in 60% stainless steel and 40% French oak barrels. Jericho Canyon 2013 Sauvignon Blanc has fresh tropical fruit notes with hints of guava, green apple, lime, and crushed stone. Its rich, juicy palate finishes with just the perfect touch of vibrant acidity. Delicious!
Joseph Phelps is a legend in Napa for defining that delicious rich Napa style which is epitomized by Phelps “Insignia”- but he also makes a knockout Sauvignon Blanc from Napa as well.
The 2015 Joseph Phelps Sauvignon Blanc is beautiful, focused and full of energy. Pears, lemon oil, white flowers and mint flesh out in an inviting, layered Sauvignon Blanc endowed with gorgeous texture and personality. The aromatics are expressive and floral, but the emphasis is all on texture, much of it coming from fermentation in puncheon.
The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc was aged for seven months in 35% new French oak puncheons and 65% one to three-year-old French oak puncheons and barrels before bottling in May 2014. The lees were stirred during and after fermentation for a silky, round mouthfeel and light oak influence while preserving focused acidity and finesse in the wine. This wine shows bright Mandarin orange blossom, lemon curd, citrus and honey aromas. Full, ripe flavors of Meyer lemon, pear, honeydew melon and vanilla cream fill the mouth with a streak of minerality through to the nicely balanced long citrus finish. The 2013 growing season proved to be another excellent year in Napa Valley. Overall, it was slightly warmer than 2012, resulting in the earliest Sauvignon Blanc harvest at Phelp's St. Helena Home Ranch Vineyard in the last seven years.

Jordan Fiorentini has been making wine for 13 years in the US and Italy. She hit national attention with her elegant Sauvignon Blancs at Chalk Hill in Sonoma County. She continues to impress the critics with her Rhone style blends at Epoch in Paso Robles. She started Magna Mater as a project to make a "winemakers wine". Jordan has styled this Sauvignon Blanc to be the embodiment of what she would like to drink after a day in the vineyard. Sauvignon Blancs are known for expression of terroir. Magna Mater's 2013 Vogelzang Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. After exhaustive research, Fiorentini finally chose this award-winning site in Santa Barbara County to source her grapes. Vogelzang Vineyard is striking in its simple complexity. Barrel fermented in 75% stainless steel drums and 25% new French oak (Sylvain cooperage) this wine seesaws between purely delicious and subtly pensive, prompting its moto found on the cork: faciam ut mei memineris (I will make you remember me).
New rare white from Quintessa!
Intrigued with making a white wine from Quintessa, Agustin Huneeus planted a small plot of Sauvignon Blanc at the estate in 2002. Illumination first emanated from this vineyard, its rays penetrating the palates of sommeliers, friends and guests who requested it for their own cellars. He now shares this limited production wine with kindred spirits seeking illumination via wines that express their place of origin.

The Sauvignon Blanc from Mt. Veeder comes from three different clones. Clone 1, the most traditional clone used in California, has classic acidity and structure, a Musque clone that delivers amazing floral aromatics and a special French clone 530 which has ripe melon and tropical notes and adds a rich viscosity to the wine.

Selene wines are produced by Mia Klein who also happens to be the consulting winemaker at Dalla Valle, Fisher and Bressler Vineyards. For her own label, she sources fruit from the famed Hyde Vineyard (Kistler, Paul Hobbs) to produce perhaps our favorite Sauvignon Blanc to date. The Selene 2012 Hyde Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc aromas begin with white peach, pineapple, melon, and tangerine. This wine also has a very floral, blossomy character about it with pear blossom and honeysuckle tones in particular. The flavor concentration has wonderful intensity and impact in the mouth, with that just right balance between rich viscosity and good acidity.

The Twomey 2014 Sauvignon Blanc beautifully combines citrus, pear and green apple characters in a complex and balanced expression of this exciting varietal. It has a light straw color and a nose of grapefruit rind, juniper berry, star fruit, green apple, pear and elderberry flower. It has a juicy, fruit-sweet attack with notes of honey and citrus on the palate. The wine has a long, lingering, fresh fruit finish.
Notes from the winery: We grow Sauvignon Blanc on two estate properties: our vineyard surrounding our Calistoga winery and our Westside Road Vineyard below our winery in Russian River Valley. The soil and climate differences at these two sites gives us a range of expressions of Sauvignon Blanc that we blend to create our unique style. The Napa Valley fruit offers us a deft balance of citrus and mineral elements which is complemented beautifully by the guava and tropical notes from our Sonoma County fruit. With careful viticulture and judicious winemaking, we capture the essence of the soil and sunny climate in which these grapes are grown, and the minerality and freshness so becoming to this varietal.

Fresh pineapple, passion fruit, pink grapefruit, cream and liquid mineral are present and rich in this wine. Excellent balalnce and acidity. Fans of Rochioli and Duckhorn will rejoice over the great quality and price of this wine. The fruit for this wine is grown on our Vineyard Manager's property in Lake County. We select the vineyard section and specific vines based on cluster size, weight and ripeness. Notes of melon, fig and pears create a creamy undercurrent; the vibrant acidity will make it food friendly with a variety of dishes.
