One of Napa Valley's most collectable Cabernets, order the fantastic new Far Niente 2014 Cabernet at a special new-release price.
previous vintage 94+ Points Robert Parker: "This iconic estate has produced the Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Beautiful purity of expression characterizes this medium to full-bodied, concentrated, impeccably well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. The color is dense purple and the wine offers up notes of spring flowers a touch of background licorice and wood and pure floral crème de cassis and blackberry fruit. It’s full-bodied with a complete mid-palate and follow-through on the palate. The wine can be approached now, or cellared for 20 or more years."
Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon is grown primarily on the estate Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville next to Harlan Estate. This 100-acre vineyard produces wines that exhibit the cassis, blackberry and "dusty" components typical of wines grown in the soils of western Oakville and Napa Valley's finest Cabernets.

A great newcomer to the Napa Cabernet scene! Silver Oak has a vineyard next door and their neighbor to the west sells their fruit to Caymus: Grassi comes from prime Cab country. Mary Maher, vineyard manager for Harlan, and winemaker Robbie Meyer were instrumental in developing the vineyard and crafting a fantastic small-production Cabernet.
94 Points Antonio Galloni: "A dark, sensual wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon graces the palate with expressive blue and dark red fruit, cinnamon, cloves, licorice, menthol and new leather. Drink this bold, racy Cabernet over the next decade or so. The 2013 offers a fabulous combination of concentration, mid-palate depth and intensity, but with silky tannins that give it tons of near and medium-term appeal. The 2013 finishes with striking freshness and a closing note of sweet French oak."
Robert Parker: "Grassi is one of my favorite under the radar producers in Napa Valley. The estate excels with both Ribolla Gialla – a white grape native to Italy’s Friuli – and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best of all, the wines remain very fairly priced considering the quality of what is in the glass.”

The Groth 2012 Cabernet hits on all cylinders. Consistently one of the benchmark wines of the Napa Valley. Another Napa Classic!
95 Points James Suckling: "This is very classy with mineral, black currant and spice character. Shows chili and Thai basil too. Full body, firm tannins and a bright and persistent finish. Extremely long and elegant. Best ever from here in years?"
"The 2012 vintage does appear to be a near-perfect vintage", writes James Suckling, "and most producers, even more commercial wineries, made outstanding quality wines....the 2012s tend to show wonderful opulence and purity as well as harmony and balance. Moreover, they are wonderfully attractive to drink young, which is an added value for Napa reds when compared with some other key wine regions in the world."
Groth Winery sits on the 121-acre Oakcross Vineyard planted by Justin Meyer and Ray Duncan of Silver Oak in the heart of the Oakville appellation. This prime Cabernet Sauvignon land serves owner Dennis Groth and winemaker Michael Weis well as they fashion some of Napa Valley's best Cabernets.

One of the top Napa Cabernets of the vintage, the Groth 2012 Reserve Cab is a classic. Delicious now but a great cellar candidate as well. Limited.
The 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows the intrinsic black stone fruit nuances and the soft tannin structure that define the Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet. The 2012 harvest may actually go down as one of the most intriguing, most difficult and the best vintages of the early 21st century. The reds are stunning – amazing colors in wines that are soft, supple and full bodied. Amazing results from an amazing year!

The Newton 2013 "Unfiltered" Chardonnay has just been released - always one of California's finest Chardonnays! Newton Vineyards is one of the great vineyard estates of Spring Mountain with neighbors like Cain, Pride Mountain and Paloma. Their highly-rated Unfiltered Chardonnay sells out every year.
94 Points Robert Parker: "John Kongsgaard told me that when the unfiltered Chardonnay from Newton was first launched in the early 1980s, the fruit came entirely from what is now the Judge Vineyard of Kongsgaard. No wonder that wine was so spectacular in those days. It also had an incredible aging curve as well. This wine continues to be a strong effort. The 2013 Chardonnay Unfiltered exhibits notes of white peach, honeysuckle and some brioche in a medium to full-bodied, lusciously fruity, rich, complex and full style. It doesn’t have the minerality of the old days of the early 1980s, but this is a brilliant Chardonnay, representing one of Napa’s finest efforts....
...This cuvée has been one of California’s great classic Chardonnays for over two decades. It also has remarkable aging potential. In the early years, much of the credit went to some of the talented people who worked here, including John Kongsgaard, Luc Morlet and Michel Rolland.."
