Cabernet specialist Larmead Vineyards also make a tiny amount of one of Napa's best sauvignon blancs. Extremely limited.
Robert Parker: " The only white wine produced is the 100% Sauvignon Blanc from 12-year-old vines that is aged 10 months on its lees in 12% new French oak. A beautiful white, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Lillie exhibits a white Burgundy-like texture that gives the wine a rich, savory quality. Exotic aromas of mangoes, marmalade, lemon grass and pineapples jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, gorgeously fruity, exuberant Sauvignon that should drink well for 4-5 years."
One of the best Napa Valley Sauvignon Blancs we've discovered.
The Altamura 2013 Sauvignon Blanc comes from the winery's 4-acre 18-year-old dry-farmed vineyard which sits at an altitude of 850 feet. The wine is fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months resulting in a wine of great depth and complexity, displaying the flavor and textural profile more like a white Bordeaux than a California Sauvignon Blanc. Very limited production of 500 cases.
Another great new release from Bedrock - limited.
92 Points Robert Parker: "The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is one of the best I have tasted in California. This is highly extracted Sauvignon, with perhaps the vintage’s low yields and splendid concentration giving it that extra gear. The telltale melons, caramelized grapefruit, fig and more exotic fruits are present in this beautifully fragrant, medium-bodied Sauvignon that has a terrific texture and length. It is dry, but wow, what an intriguing and exotic Sauvignon Blanc. Drink it over the next several years...
