98 Points Jeb Dunnuck: Â "While Bosche has a higher water table (so more vigor) and ripens earlier, the Freemarl Abbey 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyard comes from a lower vigor site (near Staglin) that gets afternoon shade and ripens about a week to a week and a half later than Bosche. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, with the aging spanning 21 months in 63% new French oak. It's a more mineral-driven, savory wine, offering a stunning core of blackcurrants, cassis, pure graphite, leather, and dried herbs and it s already nuanced and complex. These carry to a full-bodied wine that has fine tannins, a big, dense mid-palate, and a great finish."
Located on the southern end of the Rutherford Bench, Freemark Abbey's Sycamore Vineyard’s proximity to the Mayacamas Mountains provides the perfect climate for growing a rich, textured Cabernet. The wine is intense in aromatic complexity, reminiscent of blackberry,
pomegranate syrup, black tea, and forest floor. The palate is rich and textured with flavors
of forest fruits, dark chocolate, bay leaf, and warm oak spices. The ‘Rutherford dust’ is
evident in the tannin structure, giving it textures that are bold but integrated, making it
lovely to drink now with the capability to age in the cellar for decades.

Our ability to respond to expedited requests depends on the particular wines’ availability. We work with many small-production wines which, if not in stock may need to be acquired direct from the winery and may not be available for shipping for several days after your order is placed.
