Limited new Signature Chardonnay release from Darioush. Order while it's still available.
100% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from Darioush's estate vineyards in the Napa Valley, Oak Knoll and Carneros districts, and aged for eleven months in 70% new French oak.
Tasting Notes: "Influenced by a cooler than average growing season, the Darioush 2014 Signature Chardonnay is powerful, sleek and vibrant, and was bottled unfiltered to maintain a strong sense of place and high concentration of flavor. Bright aromatics of white peach and quince entice, with layers of green apple, creamy lemon meringue, yeast and toasted wheat in the mid-palate, finishing with a pure, delicate minerality. A promising vintage that will evolve well for several years."
One of California's greatest white wines is the Darioush Viognier - try it while this small-production gem is still available!
90 Points Wine Spectator: "This strikes the right balance between bold and graceful, with ripe apricot and mango flavors providing a fleshy texture, showing details of peach blossom and yellow apple, with refreshing acidity. Drink now."
The Darioush estate grown Viognier derives its unique style from a four-acre vineyard site in the Oak Knoll appellation. The cool micro-climate of the vineyard allows this temperamental varietal to slowly develop robust and concentrated floral and fruit characteristics. The fruit, and resulting wine, is minimally handled to express its pure and fragrant nature. Honeysuckle, jasmine and citrus fruit aromas leap from the glass, introducing a vibrant and succulent mouthfeel of juicy peach and cantaloupe balanced by the bright acidity of Fuji apple and lemon zest. The 2014 Viognier finishes with lingering notes of dried apricot, nutmeg and vanilla bean.
One of the best California Cabs under $50 we've found this year! The 2013 Darioush Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon is a plush bordeaux-style blend that epitomizes the stylistic profile thats signature Darioush.
Tasting Notes: "Round, supple and sleek – all are traits of Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon, and the exemplary 2013 vintage is no exception. Anchored by a significant blend of Merlot, the wine opens with decadent top notes of chocolate coated cherries, fig and black currants. The palate showcases ripe red fruit, cherry and plum, with firm tannins and hints of spice – cinnamon, vanilla and cherry liqueur. This is a substantial wine, built to age, yet equally enjoyable in its youth."
Caravan shares the pedigree of Darioush’s Signature wines, but displays more ripe, saturated fruit with an elegantly textured finish. Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon is anchored in Cabernet Sauvignon with lesser amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and/or Malbec added for depth and complexity of flavor.
A small-production gem usually available at the winery tasting room only. Limited.
Earth-driven, with plenty of sweet black fruits, the Darioush 2013 Signature Cabernet Franc is described by winemaker Steve Devitt as “the sleeper of the vintage. A bouquet of spiced chai and herbs de Provence overlays plush flavors of blueberry, fig and black currant with notes of cigar box and smoke. A gorgeously textured finish reveals notes of graphite and dusty chocolate.
