New release - 97+ points
One of Napa Valley's most collectable Cabernets, order the fantastic new Far Niente 2017 Cabernet at a special new-release price.
previous vintage 97+ Points Robert Parker: "A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot, the very deep purple-black colored Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled prances out of the glass with gorgeous black cherries, molten chocolate, licorice and warm cassis scents plus underlying notions of candied violets, cigar box and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate possesses great elegance and bags of poise with wonderfully ripe, plush tannins framing the perfumed black fruits, finishing very long and layered."
The wine combines select vineyards in Rutherford, Calistoga and St. Helena that complement our home in Oakville and embody our long-established house style. Cabernet has been a hallmark of Far Niente’s winemaking program beginning with its very first vintage in 1982. The marriage of these diverse vineyard sites has allowed us to craft our finest expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine exemplifies our nearly four decades of mastery in growing and making Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2018 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, blend is 93.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.8% Petit Verdot, 2.3% Cabernet Franc, .5% Merlot and .1% Malbec. The 2017 vintage was harvested between September 20 and October 27 and was aged in French oak (60% new, 40% once-used) for 16 months.

94 Points - rare
Rare 'Riserva' Cabernet Sauvignon now available. Limited.
A great newcomer to the Napa Cabernet scene! Silver Oak has a vineyard next door and their neighbor to the west sells their fruit to Caymus: Grassi comes from prime Cab country. Mary Maher, vineyard manager for Harlan, and winemaker Robbie Meyer were instrumental in developing the vineyard and crafting a fantastic small-production Cabernet.
94 Points Robert Parker: "One-hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva is deep garnet-purple colored with a gorgeous nose of perfumed black fruit—roses, violets and dark chocolate over cassis, black cherries and crushed blackberries—with hints of cedar box, lavender, wood smoke, pencil lead and tapenade. The palate is full-bodied, rich and densely packed with smoky black fruits and a firm frame of grainy tannins with great freshness, finishing long and layered."
94 Points Antonio Galloni: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva presents a fresher and more red-toned fruit profile than the straight Cabernet. Bright floral notes, red cherry, raspberry, mint and cinnamon are all beautifully delineated in this very pretty, gracious wine. The tannins need a bit of time to soften. This is a gorgeous wine from Grassi."
Robert Parker: "Grassi is one of my favorite under the radar producers in Napa Valley. The estate excels with both Ribolla Gialla – a white grape native to Italy’s Friuli – and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best of all, the wines remain very fairly priced considering the quality of what is in the glass.”

95 Points Antonio Galloni: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is the highlight in this range from Grassi. Fresh, vibrant and delineated, it is incredibly delicious, even in the early going. In this vintage, the Grassi Cabernet is especially refined, displaying a striking floral quality and fewer of the jam/chocolate flavors that were common just a few years ago. Gentler extractions than in the past have paid off, big time. A gorgeous wine."
