The Noemi Cabernet Sauvignon is an awesome small-production Napa Cabernet you should try now. The grapes from this vineyard were sold to Caymus and Phelps for Insignia before they started bottling it themselves!
About: Noemi Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by Eleadoro Hernandez, whose Napa Valley winemaking journey began after arriving from Mexico in 1982. After helping develop the Caldwell Vineyard in Coombsville, he established his own vineyard on Big Ranch Road in the Oak Knoll District. Before launching the Noemi label, fruit from these vineyards was purchased by respected Napa wineries, including Caymus and Joseph Phelps for its Insignia program. Today, Noemi remains a family-owned winery producing only a few hundred cases annually.
Tasting Notes: "The 2022 Noemi Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of blackberry, cassis, ripe plum, and dark cherry layered with cocoa, cedar, cinnamon, and dried herbs. On the palate, concentrated black fruit is balanced by bright acidity and polished tannins, creating a full-bodied yet elegant Napa Cabernet. Notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and baking spices linger through a long, fresh finish. This wine drinks beautifully today after decanting and has the structure to age gracefully for the next 8–12 years.
Food Pairings: Roast duck breast with cherry reduction; beef bourguignon or pasta with a rich lamb ragù create depth and balance.
