It's tough to make a case for a better Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at this price point. Â The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been Chappellet's flagship wine for more than four decades. It is a benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley. Location on Pritchard Hill is everything as the neighbors of this property include Colgin and Bryant Family. The wine has a phenomenally dense core of blueberry and cassis fruit accented by that dusty, roasted earth component, and the tannin and acidity to serve it well in the cellar.
95 Points Jane Anson: "Excellent quality, fresh and full of personality. Black cherry, sandalwood, rose bud, liquorice root, crayon, graphite, totally delicious. Love the expansion through the palate and the juicy finish, this is concentrated and powerful with silky tannins, super enjoyable. Philip Titus winemaker."
94 Points The Wine Independent: "The Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, and 2% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, after a little swirling, notes of cassis, blackberry preserves, and prunes slowly emerge from the glass, giving way to underlying tar, bay leaves, and crushed rocks hints. Full-bodied, the palate is coated with baked black fruits flavors and herbal accents, framed by firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and savory. (LPB)"
93 Points Jeb Dunnuck:  "A killer wine and great value, the Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature reveals tons of cassis and darker, almost blue fruits intermixed with sappy spring flowers, crushed stone, and lead pencil nuances. Based on 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, and 2% Merlot, it's balanced and medium to full-bodied, with beautiful tannins. This is a no-brainer purchase that will drink beautifully for 10-12 years."
