93 Points Wine Spectator:
"This is richly aromatic, with an initial range of mocha, spice box and sweet smoke that adds complexity to the flavors of plum compote, black cherry pΓ’te de fruit, loamy earth and dried sage. Finely meshed, layering refined, chalky tannins and pomegranate-fueled acidity with the expressive profile. Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2038."

93 Points Roberrt Parker:
"The 2023 Clio was produced with 70% Monastrell from very old vines and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1986. It fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and matured in new French and American oak barrels for 23 months. It has tons of spices, vanilla, toast and smoke, oaky notes that dominate the nose. It's full-bodied, with 15% alcohol, a pH of 3.57 and 6.1 grams of acidity, and it has more freshness than last year but keeping 3.4 grams of residual sugar and a finish dominated by oak flavors. It's for fans of the style. It was bottled in September 2025. "

93 Points Vinous:
Β  "The Bodegas El Nido 2023 Clio is composed of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from Jumilla. It was aged for 23 months in French and American oak barrels. Recently bottled, the oak is at the forefront but will integrate. The wine opens with plum, soft herbal notes and blackberry. Intense with fruit complexity, the palate is creamy, flavorful and delicate in tannins, finishing with a touch of oak that will meld with time."

This is a joint project between the Gil family, who has done so much to put Jumilla on the map with the wines from Finca Luzon, wine broker Jorge Ordonez, one of the pioneers for unearthing high quality wines from Jumilla, and famed Australia winemaker, Chris Ringland. The wines are spectacular efforts that establish new benchmarks, not only in terms of its bold pricing, but also the extraordinary quality of what is in the bottle. The fruit is harvested by hand in small baskets, picked very ripe, given a severe triage, and fermented in open top, three to four ton vats. The wine is aged in 100% new French and American oak for malolactic fermentation and for 26 months prior to being bottled.

Based in Jumilla with winemaking roots going back over a century, Gil Family Estates comprises eight wineries spread throughout seven D.O.'s in Spain and are famous around the world for bold flavors, lavish texture and alluring spice.
