Far Niente makes one of Napa Valley's classic Chardonnays - limited.
The Far Niente 2017 Estate Chardonnay Napa Valley offers up a bevy of aromas of melon, hazelnut, citrus, fig and spice are complimented by toasty notes in the nose. The palate offers a full entry with floral notes that lead through layers of fruit that give structure and complexity. The length and balance are impressive as they lead to a mouth watering finish.
Far Niente Chardonnay is a careful blend of estate vineyards that grow in the cooler southern areas of the Napa Valley. Once winemaker Stephanie Putnam determined when to pick each block, the grapes were hand picked, sorted, pressed and then the juice was settled. Fermentation in french oak barrels usually lasts about three weeks and then the wine is aged on its yeast for another 8-9 months before the final blend is determined.
EnRoute was founded by the family of partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel. Their journey to find the best place to make the Pinot Noir of their dreams culminates at last in EnRoute: Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Extremely Limited.
En Route 2014 "Les Pommiers" Pinot Noir draws its name from the apple orchards emblematic of the Russian River Valley's agricultural history. At once elegant and intense, Les Pommiers is the consummate blend of fruit from our vineyards located primarily in the Green Valley and upper Middle Reach areas of the Russian River Valley AVA. Our grapes are farmed according to organic principles and minimally handled at the winery. The wine is deftly shaped with a subtle combination of new and once-used French oak barrels. Les Pommiers captures aromatics of wild raspberry, black cherry, plum and floral notes that yield to mineral, spice and toasty oak. It has a juicy, coating entry, followed by more layers of raspberry and cherry fruit, and ripe, integrated tannins.
Napa Valley's Dolce Winery, owned by the folks at Far Niente, is the only winery in North America that is solely devoted to producing a single, late harvest wine. It is one of the few wineries in the world willing to make such a commitment, sharing a common philosophy with the great Sauternes producers of Bordeaux. 375ml "half bottle".
98 Points Wine Enthusiast: "With this wine, Dolce cements its status as California's most consistently great dessert wine. This year's blend is 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, and the grapes were infected with teh botrytis, resultikng in the fantastic sweetness. Devastating in apricot, orange, pear, honey, vanilla, and creme brulee flavors, in an unctuous, viscous texture, with wonderfully clean acidity, it's certainly one of the greatest sweet California wines in recent memory."

97+ Points Robert Parker: "A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot, the very deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled prances out of the glass with gorgeous black cherries, molten chocolate, licorice and warm cassis scents plus underlying notions of candied violets, cigar box and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate possesses great elegance and bags of poise with wonderfully ripe, plush tannins framing the perfumed black fruits, finishing very long and layered."
Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon is grown primarily on the estate Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville next to Harlan Estate. This 100-acre vineyard produces wines that exhibit the cassis, blackberry and "dusty" components typical of wines grown in the soils of western Oakville and Napa Valley's finest Cabernets.

previous vintage 94+ Points Robert Parker: "A great effort from Far Niente in this truly magnificent vintage, with its similarities to 2002, the Far Niente Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, plenty of structure and aging potential, and an impressive inner core of sweet crème de cassis fruit, licorice and background vanilla. This wine is still very much an infant in its evolution, and should keep for 20-30 years. Many 2012s are excessively generous, open-knit and fleshy, but this is holding a lot back. And wow, it is “locked and loaded.” I wouldn’t be surprised to see this wine increase in score in about 5-10 years, and actually merit an even higher score. Bravo!"
The 2014 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon presents dusty chocolate and black cherry aromas layered with subtle floral notes and oak. The entry is velvety and intense, revealing dark cherry and boysenberry notes married with toasted oak and light licorice. This is an elegantly structured wine with silkiness through the midpalate and a persistent, juicy finish. Deep, coating Oakville tannins ensure that this wine will age beautifully in the cellar.
