Perfect 100 Points - limited                            Â
Napa's legendary Eisele Vineyard needs no introduction as it is one of the greatest estates in Napa and among the finest in the world. Several years ago the owners of Chateau Latour in Bordeaux purchased the winery and vineyard from founders Bart & Daphne Araujo under the renamed winery as Eisele Vineyard. This is one of California's most collectible cabernets.Â
100 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Incredibly pure, seamless, and elegant, the Eisele Vineyard 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon shows classic Eisele red and black currants, new leather, dried flowers, spice, and loamy earth in a multi-dimensional, full-bodied style. Aged 21 months in 100% new oak (54% new French barrels and 46% new Austrian and French foudres), it has refined, seamless tannins, flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. It's very much in the style of the vintage and this site, which never yields the biggest or richest wine, yet one of complexity, elegance, and finesse, while still bringing concentrated fruit and texture. This is a world-class, First Growth-like effort that will stand toe to toe with the best in the world. Hide bottles for a decade if you can, and it will be a 40- to 50-year wine. Drink 2035-2075.
100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Palate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the Eisele 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of warm cassis, wild blueberries, and juicy blackberries, followed by hints of menthol, licorice, tar, and forest floor with a waft of black truffles. The medium- to full-bodied palate is packed with shimmery black fruit and minerally layers, framed by firm yet velvety tannins and amazing tension, finishing on a lingering ferrous note."
99 Points Robert Parker: "Almost half of Eisele's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon matured in foudres, with the rest in barriques, so the oak is more understated here than in the Piedras bottling, with just hints of crushed stone accenting notes of dusty earth and mixed red and black cherries. Medium- to full-bodied, this is supremely supple and creamy in texture but simultaneously richly tannic and concentrated, with a long, lush finish. About the only question about this wine is if my rating is overly stingy."
99 Points James Suckling: "Intense aromas of blackberries, spices, fresh herbs, violets and lavender with some sage. It’s full-bodied with broad tannins that spread across the palate and give impressive structure and length. A clear and precise wine with greatness. Pure cabernet sauvignon. So attractive now, but will age superbly. Drink or hold."
About Eisele Vineyard: The Eisele Vineyard has produced some of Napa Valley's most iconic Cabernet Sauvignons for over fifty years. Wines from the vineyard have been bottled by Ridge Vineyards, Conn Creek, Joseph Phelps, Araujo Estate, and today Eisele Vineyard. Since its acquisition by the owners of Château Latour, the estate has focused on biodynamic farming and precision winemaking, reinforcing its reputation as one of California's greatest vineyard sites.
Our Tasting Notes: Expect expressive aromas of black currant, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, crushed stone, and dried herbs. The palate is layered and seamless, offering remarkable purity, refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and exceptional length. Despite its concentration, the wine remains elegant and energetic, a hallmark of Eisele Vineyard.
