Raen 2024 Lady Marjorie Cuvée Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
$74.99Raen 2024 Lady Marjorie Cuvée Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
Rare Chardonnay release from Raen! Limited.
97 Points James Suckling: "Very complex, showing enticing aromas of nougat, dried apples and flint at first, turning to floral notes of lilacs and honeysuckle with a hint of smoke. Medium-bodied with some oily texture, it has a creamy yet refined palate and a steely mineral aftertaste. Vibrant and featherlight yet concentrated. So excellent to drink now."
94 Points Vinous: "The 2024 Chardonnay Lady Marjorie is elegant, delicate and wonderfully nuanced. Lemon oil, crushed rocks, mint, slate and sage are finely delineated in a transparent, crystalline Chardonnay that is so impressive. The Lady Marjorie is a blend of sites in the Sonoma Coast. It's such a pure, nuanced Chardonnay."
Winery Notes: This bottling is dedicated to our grandmother Marjorie, who has always been a guiding light and inspiration for us. From the remote, rocky soils of the Sonoma Coast, this wine shines with depth and vibrancy. Lively aromas of lemon pith, key lime, honeysuckle blossom, and summer-ripened nectarine jump from the glass, followed by crushed wet rock and distinct mineral tones that transport us to the coast where the vines are rooted. Bright citrus, stone fruit and beeswax are beautifully intertwined on the palate, reminding us of the pollinators that come alive in our vineyard, leading to a vibrant, zesty finish that balances richness and precision.
...Raen focuses on coastal sites where fruit can ripen at relatively low sugars. The wines are fermented with ambient yeasts and see a good deal of whole clusters. In tasting, the Raen Pinots convey the essence of site with tremendous depth and intensity, but no excess weight. Perhaps even more importantly, these are wines of real personality and breed. Don't miss them."
When Robert Mondavi Winery was sold in 2004, the brothers joined their father Tim, Aunt-Marcia and grandfather Robert as they founded Continuum in 2005. In 2013 Carlo and Dante founded RAEN winery with the goal to produce world class Pinot Noir on the western hills of the Sonoma Coast. RAEN currently focuses on making three Pinot Noirs, from three unique sites on the Sonoma Coast.
