Ad Vivum 2022 Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
$225.00Ad Vivum 2022 Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A fantastic boutique Cabernet from Ad Vivum and the great 2021 vintage - limited.
Robb Report #3 Greatest Cabernet Sauvignon of the 21st Century (so far):" A joint project between winemakers Chris Phelps and his son Josh, Ad Vivum has been one of our favorites since its inception. It’s crafted from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from the Sleeping Lady Vineyard after a picture-perfect vintage growing season and harvest. Heavenly aromas of ripe black fruits, pencil lead, mocha, and cigar box draw you in to the glass for ethereal flavors of cassis and black raspberry enveloped in a sheath of velvety tannins. Wow, just wow."
97 Points Decanter: "Incredibly fresh and lifted on the nose, offering bright cherry and blackberry fruit alongside fresh tobacco and dusty cocoa powder. The palate opens with upfront satiny fruit, displaying real finesse as super-fine, powdery tannins build to a crescendo, finishing with a chalky mineral character. Absolutely gorgeous, with Left Bank structure, lifted floral notes and a lingering mineral-driven finish."
96 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard Yountville is another awesome wine from this estate, offering up beautiful notes of cassis, graphite, darker currants, red plums, tobacco, and scorched earth, with hints of leather emerging with time in the glass. It's medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant, with fine tannins and a terrific finish. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 19 months in 75% new French oak barrels and should drink nicely for 15+ years."
The 2022 Ad Vivum Cabernet represents one of Napa's best recent vintages, made with 100% cabernet sauvignon grapes from two micro-blocks at Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville along the Mayacamas Mountains. Winemaker Chris Phelps has worked with Petrus, Dominus and Caymus and he made just 430 cases of this allocation only wine for his own label. Dense tannic structure and youthfully energetic cassis mean the wine will drink well for several decades to come.
