96 Points - limited
New release of Plumpjack's Syrah- limited.
95 Points Jeb Dunnick: "The 2015 Syrah from PlumpJack was fermented with 40% Whole Clusters and raised in 68% new French oak. It’s a gorgeous, pedal to the metal beauty that boasts a deep, saturated purple color as well as tons of smoked meats, blackberry, olive, and wood smoke aromas and flavors. Rich and full-bodied, yet light on its feet, this powerful Napa Valley Syrah has a touch of old world charm and will drink nicely for at least a decade, although I see no need to delay gratification."
95 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Syrah packs a serious punch. Inky and explosive on the palate, the 2016 is shaping up to be another real gem from winemaker Aaron Miller. Even with all of its intensity, the 2016 has a good bit of freshness and structure woven into its intense, dark-fleshed fruit. Scents of lavender, licorice and blueberry pie add to the wine's considerable appeal."
Grown in Napa, but inspired by the Northern Rhone style, this Syrah exhibits a smoky, gamey nose layered with white and black pepper, with complementary notes of blueberry and raspberry aromatics. Well structured, the palate is full of bright raspberries, black pepper and smoke. This wine has beautiful finesse, great concentration and vibrant acidity.
CADE is Plumpjack's hot new winery on Howell Mountain. Limited.
This wine is filled with a gorgeous perfume of honeyed pears, guava, lemon grass, pink grapefruit and a waft of lemon lime soda. The palate is full of tropical flavors and delicate kiwi plus a greatintensity of lemon and lime citrus flavors. The semillon and viognier added to the blend invoke another level of complexity with flavors orange blossom and lemon curd. The barrel fermentations add a satiny texture, density and viscosity to the mid-palate of the wine. The concrete adds a touch of flint and mineral to the finish of the wine while the stainless steel fermentations preserve the natural Sauvignon Blanc aromatics, the racy backbone and the zesty crispness..

A new great-value Petite Sirah from the folks at PlumpJack's Odette Estate. Limited.
The Adaptation 2015 Petite Sirah is loaded with depth, superior concentration and a multitude of layers. It possesses aromatics of blackberry jam, plums, violets, and hints of brown sugar and nutmeg followed by raspberries, cloves and smoky oak on the palate.
New release of Plumpjack's Reserve Chardonnay - limited.
The 2017 PlumpJack Reserve Chardonnay is a fantastic Napa Chardonnay. Aromas of white peaches, pear, orange blossom and warm apple pie filling are followed on the palate with flavors of Fuji apples, cinnamon stick and lemon curd. Very pleasant to drink now but the acidity gives it room to age.
Plumpjack opts not for the typical profile of Napa Chardonnay with this bottling, but for the "alternative," without malolactic fermentation, and the attendant buttery palate profile. The winery's vintage note explains: "The cooler Carneros site imparts this wine with fresh green apple and Bartlett pear on the nose, while the warmer St. Helena site lends to some tropical notes. The Carneros vineyard also gives this wine a beautiful, bright, lively acidity, which is balanced by the creamy, rich texture of the St. Helena fruit. A touch of oak gives the wine traces of vanilla, flint, and spice."
