New release!                      Â
New release from one of Napa Valley's finest producers, Lewis Cellars.Â
The Lewis 2022 The Big Blend – Syrah-based with some Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Sirah – arouses the palate with notes of chocolatey layers and ripe, kirsch-infused cherries. Youthful and energetic, this is a wine with a huge concentration of flavors that are juicy and delicious yet seriously structured.
93 Points Jeb Dunnuck:Â "Based on 48% Syrah, 21% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petite Sirah, the Lewis 2022 The Big Blend offers darker berries, pepper, meat, violets, and hints of iron and sage. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's nicely textured and balanced, with ripe tannins. Aged 19 months in French and American oak, drink it over the next 5-7 years."
Winery Notes: 2022 stands out as one of the most unique vintages in recent Napa Valley history. A long summer of warm days and cool nights came to a crescendo with an impressive five-day heatwave in September. The heat spell eventually gave way to more mild weather through October, allowing the grapes to develop a more refined, elegant character.
The Lewis 2022 Cabernet ranks among our best bottlings of Napa Cabernet. Enticing, deep-fruited aromas of black currant, berry and chocolate are stippled with cedar, clove and cinnamon oak spices. The palate centers on opulent core fruit that swirls around a defined structure of supple tannins. With complex undertones of truffle, black pepper and briar, this interplay finally winds down to a long chocolaty finish.
