This is a fantastic new Cabernet From Signarello Estate.
Just about every wine they make turns our head – and they do it quietly – but now even the critics are catching on. Hands down, this is one of the smartest buys in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Signorello’s rocky soils, combined with the cooling influences of the bay, always mean that this will be a rich, ripe, supple Cab with a measure of grace, and a long life ahead of it.
95 Points Decanter Magazine: "Signorello makes ripe, sumptuous wines, starting with this estate Cabernet sourced from younger vines and aged in 85% new French oak. Perfumes of cherry and cassis emerge from the glass and flow onto the rich palate. These evolve and adapt into bright black fruit flavours that are heavily concentrated and give it a generous finish."
94 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Signorello's Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has really clamped down since I tasted it last year. Pomegranate, blood orange, crème de cassis, red cherry jam, lavender, rose petal and mint give the wine much of its distinct, exotic personality. The firm tannins need time to soften, but this is an impressive effort, that is for sure. The aromatic and flavor intensity here is superb.
New release of Caymus' 2016 Cabernet now available!
previous vintage 94 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years."
Caymus Vineyards produces two Cabernets Sauvignons – a “Napa Valley” and the venerable “Special Selection”. Both Cabernet bottlings have aromas and flavors which can only be achieved through “hang time” – a technique which chances the loss of crop if early winter sets in. Leaving the fruit to “hang” on the vine unusually long develops suppleness, increases color, and matures the tannins of the grapes. The wines are abundant in textural tannins yet soft as velvet. Crop thinning, allowing measured sunlight to reach the vine’s fruit zone, and waiting for increased ripeness are all part of our viticultural practices. Caymus Cabernets offer a wide array of aromas and flavors including cocoa, cassis and vanilla.
