97 Points Robert Parker: "Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 20 months in French oak, 80% new, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard St. Helena has a deep garnet-purple color and gives up coffee, dried herbs and garrigue notions over a crème de cassis, blueberry pie and red currant jelly core with touches of cumin seed and black pepper. Medium to full-bodied, the taut, muscular palate is laden with savory and black fruit layers, featuring firm, ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and earthy. 225 cases produced...
...Proprietors Mark Pulido & Donna Walker started Pulido-Walker in 2010 with single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons from the Panek Vineyard in St. Helena and the Melanson Vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Sadly, their home on Mt. Veeder was one of the first to be destroyed during the recent wildfires in Napa Valley. Their young estate vineyard on Mt. Veeder, not yet in production, sustained minor damage according to winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. The Panek and Melanson vineyards were undamaged and the Mending Wall Winery they use in St. Helena to make and store their wines escaped unscathed, so fans of these wines can expect business as usual here, even as the Pulido-Walker home is being rebuilt."

It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years."
Caymus Vineyards produces two Cabernets Sauvignons – a “Napa Valley” and the venerable “Special Selection”. Both Cabernet bottlings have aromas and flavors which can only be achieved through “hang time” – a technique which chances the loss of crop if early winter sets in. Leaving the fruit to “hang” on the vine unusually long develops suppleness, increases color, and matures the tannins of the grapes. The wines are abundant in textural tannins yet soft as velvet. Crop thinning, allowing measured sunlight to reach the vine’s fruit zone, and waiting for increased ripeness are all part of our viticultural practices. Caymus Cabernets offer a wide array of aromas and flavors including cocoa, cassis and vanilla.
