Why "wild" ? The grapes for the Miner Wild Yeast Chardonnay are fermented using only indigenous yeast cultures found on the skins of the grapes themselves, in the vineyards and within the walls of the winery. Gracefully sailing through full malolactic, the wine retains its vital acidity along with incredible freshness and richness. Aromas of vanilla and pear are followed by effusive ripe fruit flavors and subtle toastiness on the palate. Citrus and caramel notes add to the intrigue of this smooth, supple and unabashedly sexy chardonnay. Very limited - Only 1,000 cases produced.
previous vintage 95 Points Connoisseur's Guide: "Miner Wild Yeast Chardonnay has complex notes of ripe apples, creme brulee, toasted bread and savory spices are combined in the deeply framed, rich aromas of this full-bodied, mouthfilling and well-balanced wine. It follows on the palate with ripe and wide-ranging flavors and has both the range and depth to be a great mealtime choice to accompany well-seasoned roasted chicken served with fancy reduction sauce or for the fleshy fishes with fusion-influened sauces. It does not need long aging but is certain to reward a few years of patient cellaring."
A new great-value Napa Chardonnay from the folks at PlumpJack's Odette Estate. Limited.
An approachable fun interpretation to Napa Valley Chardonnay! Aromas of citrus, tropical fruit, and acacia flower. On the palate flavors of green apple, guava, and quince, backed by refreshing acidity and a pleasing finish. We are proud to produce Chardonnay that we feel is a great representation of the broader Napa AVA.
North is the new label from the Central Coast Rhone Master John Alban. Extremely limited.
95 Points Robert Parker: "The greatest Chardonnay yet from Alban, his 2013 Chardonnay had just been bottled prior to my visit. It certainly was showing no ill affects and offers sensational, Montrachet-like notes of ripe apple and orchard fruits, toasted nuts, mineral and cream. Full-bodied, ripe, voluptuous and layered, it's a shame more producers don't attempt this style and settle for a mid-weight, overly acidity, more innocuous expression of the variety. Drink this beautiful wine anytime over the coming decade...These Pinots and Chardonnays all come from John Alban's estate in the Edna Valley. Without a doubt, these 2013s are the greatest I've tasted from him."."
Limited new release from cult Chardonnay producer Mark Aubert.
94 Points Robert Parker: "The 2013 Chardonnay UV-SL is made from two selections of Old Wente Chardonnay clones planted in classic Goldridge sandy soils. It exhibits the same greenish hue as its siblings, but is slightly more restrained and subdued. Notes of white currants, quince, poached pears, wet rocks and loamy soil nuances emerge from this terroir-driven Chardonnay. Drink 2015-2014...
...Mark Aubert is one of the contenders for California’s finest practitioner of Burgundian-styled, yet classic, California Chardonnays. His offerings are all made like grand cru Burgundies with full malolactic, the use of French oak and lees stirring, but the purity of fruit, the textural dimensions, and the stunning singularity of these Chardonnays can only be matched by a handful of other Chardonnay producers in the world. He’s that good. Aubert’s 2012s, which I have enjoyed multiple times out of bottle since I purchased most of them, merit the scores I gave them last year."
