A delicious new Chardonnay from Orin Swift Cellars.
91 Points Robert Parker: "Aged on the lees for eight months in 35% new French oak, the 2017 Chardonnay Mannequin opens with baked peaches, poached pears and brioche notes with hints of lemon curd, butterscotch and toasted almonds. Full-bodied, rich and decadently fruited with a pleasantly oily texture, it has seamless freshness and a very long, toasty finish
Producer notes: "Pale gold in the glass, opulent aromatics of Meyer lemon, vanilla crème, and sweet oak are complemented by subtle notes of jasmine, gardenias and caramel. The layered palate is replete with ripe stone fruit, melon, lemon curd and hints of roasted almond, grapefruit pith and white pepper. The finish is long and rich with a tapering young coconut flavor. Aged in 35% new French oak sur lie for 8 months. Alcohol 15%."
The Seventy Five Wine Co. "The Sum" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a fantastic $20 discovery in California Cabernet from the Beckstoffers who are synonymous with managing some of Napa Valley's most famous vineyards. Don't miss!
This amazingly well endowed profoundly rich red wine must be smelled and tasted to be believed. The color is a rich, deep purple garnet and gives but a small hint as to what’s inside. The nose gives off soaring and wonderfully focused aromas of ripe stone fruit, vanilla, cherries, cedar cigar box, blackberries and cinnamon. In the mouth, there are layers upon layers of broad, sweet opulent fruit balanced by firm tannins, great acidity and oak. This wine truly showcases the potential of blending and is a must have.
A fantastic new Chiantico Classico from one of Italy's best producers, and an amazing buy for the price. Limited.
95 Points James Suckling: "Tight and super silky with a gorgeous density and precision that gives great polish to the tannins. Makes them almost dusty. Lots of subtle dark berry, mineral and spice. Drink or hold."
93+ Robert Parker: "The 2014 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo flaunts its importance. It boasts confidence and an outward-looking personality that comes as a refreshing surprise. Like all Gran Selezione wines, it is released 30 months after January 1st following the harvest. This expression of Sangiovese shows depth and power with ripe fruit tones of cherry and forest berry. I am delighted and surprised by the elegant and soft nature of the mature tannins. The wine’s finish offers bright freshness with layers of dark fruit, wet earth and forest floor."
91 Points Wine Spectator: "Shows fine purity to the cherry, strawberry and leather notes, with a hint of licorice. Ripe, sweet fruit and a juicy texture collide as this plays out on the long finish. Drink now through 2025."
A new great-value Cabernet Sauvignon from the folks at PlumpJack's Odette Estate. Limited.
Blackberry liqueur, blueberries, hints of black currants and dried herbs intertwine into one harmonious wine. The silky texture, fresh acidity and long lingering finish leave a staining impression across the palate. This is a beautiful showing of Cabernet Sauvignon in a truly magnificent vintage.
An awesome new red blend from a boutique producer at the forefront of the Central Coast winemaking scene - only a few hundred cases were produced so try it while its still available!
92 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Beautiful Earth Red is an outstanding blend of 70% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, 8% Grenache, and the balance a mix of other varieties. This forward, sexy wine is loaded with notions of dark fruits, ground pepper, and bouquet garni. Medium to full-bodied, upfront and ready to go, it’s another opulent wine from McPrice Myers that will drink nicely for 7-8 years."
One of the best Napa Valley Sauvignon Blancs we've discovered.
The Altamura Sauvignon Blanc comes from the winery's 4-acre 18-year-old dry-farmed vineyard which sits at an altitude of 850 feet. The wine is fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months resulting in a wine of great depth and complexity, displaying the flavor and textural profile more like a white Bordeaux than a California Sauvignon Blanc. Very limited production of 500 cases.
A fantastic new discovery from Westwood Winery, one of our favorite new small-production wineries and winemaker Philippe Melka.
96 Point Wine Enthusiast *Editor's Choice*: "This red is brightly layered in fresh bluefruit, meat and garrigue, showing plenty of density and complexity. It has a wild character thats intriguing and energetic, with lasting threads of white and black pepper on the finish."
96 Points Decanter: "Winemaker Philippe Melka collaborated with Westwood Estate to create the inaugural release of this proprietary red. Melka blended in 55% Cabernet Sauvignon with Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre from Westwood’s biodynamically farmed Annadel Gap Vineyard. The prestigious, cool climate site is located between two mountains in Sonoma County, and is influenced by the Pacific, 20 miles to the west. Aromas of sweet, savory soil are primed with rich tones of blueberry preserves. Generous and a true extrovert, this red gives wide berth on the palate to creamy boysenberry and luscious, ripe plum. Red floral and graphite strike an accord with high-energy acidity. Finely grained tannins grip like a professional golfer, firm, but not tight – confident and seamless. Finishes with a snip of cayenne, sparking an alignment with cinnamon oak as the blue fruit turns darker."
BLEND: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Grenache, 14% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre
Textbook is a small-produciton Cabernet discovery from the heart of Napa Valley's Oak Knoll District, sourced from a vineyard next to Dominus! Beautiful Cab for a reasonable price - try it while its still available. A fantastic value.
The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from two single vineyard sites located within the Oak Knoll and Yountville AVA's. These ideal environments yield Cabernet Sauvignon with more structure and less flash than their warmer region brethren, and with a decidedly Bordelaise sensibility, witness some neighboring wines from Dominus and Grgich Cellars. In addition to the Cabernet, a touch of Cabernet Franc adds great acid structure while the Merlot and Petit Verdot contributed to aromatics leading to a classic "Bordeaux" flavor profile. We believe it is a "textbook" example of this noble variety grown in these outstanding appellations and that it can be enjoyed for several years to come.

New release from Cobb, one of California's most sough-after new Pinot producers. Only 150 cases made.
97 Points Wine Enthusiast "Editors Choice": "Named for winemaker Ross Cobb's late mother, who more than 20 years ago planted the Coastlands Vineyards' dry-farmed vines - some of the oldest in the region - this exquisitely distinctive wine celebrates all that is extreme andf remarkable about the marriage of site, style and variety. Offering bay laurel in abundance, it has plenty of body to remain vibrant and complex, marked entirely in forest floor and heady allspice, with a nuance of cherry and white pepper on the finish."
94+ Points Antonio Galloni: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard is fabulous. Deep, rich and beautifully layered to the core, the 2012 possesses a remarkable sense of weightless power. The inclusion of 40% whole clusters, gives the Diane Cobb a gorgeous sense of lift. Lavender, smoke, grilled, herbs and violets are some of the notes that meld into the super-expressive finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. In the 2012, this fruit was picked into October. I think also with the fact that Ross is the Hirsch winemaker, that would be a great tie in. He made only 225 cs."
Planted by David Cobb in 1989, the Coastlands Vineyard was one of the first vineyards on the far Sonoma Coast. Just three miles from Bodega Bay, at an elevation of 1,200 feet, Coastlands hangs high above the Pacific. It’s a challenging site, with tiny yields year after year, but it has also emerged as a benchmark for what can be achieved with Pinot Noir on the far coast. The 2012 Coastlands Vineyard Pinot was honored as “Top 100 Wines” by Jon Bonné and the San Francisco Chronicle, while the 2007 vintage named one of the “Top 10 Sonoma Coast Pinots” by Forbes.
New Conundrum Red from the folks at Caymus now available!
Winery Notes: Twenty-five years ago, we introduced Conundrum as an exotic, enticing white blend--now Conundrum Red continues this tradition, bending the rules in its own unique way. Serious yet down-to-earth, this wine knows no boundaries. Pair it with everything from pizza to tandoori to fajitas to BBQ. Its structure, richness and complexity make it great any time of the year--be bold and serve it chilled.
This dark red wine opens with the aromas of plums and rich berries, its earthiness overlaid with the subtle richness of cocoa. On the palate are concentrated flavors of dried, dark fruit, lush chocolate-covered cherries and a smokiness that makes this wine the perfect complement to many dishes. Sturdy tannins are rounded out by the ripeness of the berries for a texturous but smooth feel. The finish is long and serious, with a toasted quality of oak and layers of rich flavor that slowly trail off, enticing you back for another sip.

Cepparello is one of Italy's most iconic wines and a reflection of Paolo De Marchi's career. Today Cepparello, named after a small seasonal stream among the vineyards, is a selection of the estates best fruit. Soils primarily Galestro, vineyards orientated Southwest and are 400 meters above sea-level. Paolo believes that vintage is part of terrior and wines of origin reflect the vintage. Limited.
97 Points Robert Parker: "The beautiful Isole e Olena 2016 Cepparello is a gorgeous and precise expression of Sangiovese. This is one of the icon wines of the vintage that shows a naked and transparent portrait of the grape on the one hand, with the complexity of the vintage and its territory on the other. Cepparello is like a crystal ball into the heart and soul of Sangiovese, Tuscany's mighty red grape. It is fermented in conical oak casks and later aged 20 months in 95% French and 5% American oak, of which only one-third is new wood. The wine delivers ample structure and contouring, with a firm and silky consistency at its core. This wine should age over the better part of the next 20 years."
97+ Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Cepparello is dense, dark and also very closed in on itself. Those qualities bode well for the future, but readers will have to be patient, as the 2016 is going to need at least a few years to come into its own. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice and new leather gradually open up in the glass, but the 2016 is not ready to show all of its cards. This fruit was brought in during the second week of October, which is pretty much optimal at Isole e Olena. The 2016 spent 20 months in French oak, with a bit less than 30% new oak, and a few months in cask prior to bottling. An explosion of floral and spice notes punctuates the super-refined finish. The 2016 is shaping up to be epic. Don't miss it!
One of Oregon's most coveted producers of Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley's rare Reserve Pinot Noir.
94 Points Wine Spectator: "Polished and gracefully complex, with refined raspberry and strawberry flavors accented by toasty cinnamon and river stone notes, finishing with lithe tannins. Drink now through 2025."
Wine Enthusiast: "Dark, full, generous and ripe to the far edge of elegance, this powerful Pinot is saturated with black fruits, annoted with fennel, pepper, smoke and espresso, the rich and varied flavors rolling right through a lush midpalate and on into a gently fading finish. Retasted over 24-48 hours, it continued to evolve and develop additional nuances. A wine that can develop like a fine Burgundy to cellar for a decade or more."
The latest newcomer to the Napa Valley Cult Cabernet scene! Limited.
Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of Napa's pioneer winemakers who rest in a tiny 150 year old cemetery on the north edge of Yountville - the epicenter of Napa Valley. Graced with perfect drainage and sunny exposure, Ghost Block Vineyard is a jewel, 16 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, an heirloom, passed down through a single family for over 100 years. Coveted by celebrity winemakers, the fruit from this and nearby vineyards has been the cornerstone of many of Napa's "Cult Wines". The secret is out. Production is very limited.
2016 was a superb vintage. The vines reacted beautifully to the weather which allowed for full development and maturity. Explosive aromas of black cherry pie with hints of sweet chocolate. The underlining dry herbs and vanilla on the nose, lead into an enticing full, lush palate of mature plum, black cherry, and dark chocolate.Integrated throughout the wine is mouth-watering cranberry, and dense oak. This wine is delicious on release with round fine grained tannins; the perfect aging qualities. Each glass invites you to the next!
Brand new white release from the famed winemaking duo of Shafer Vineyards Doug Shafer and Elias Fernandez and their new label Eight Four. Limited.
95 Points Wine Enthusiast "Editor's Choice": "This new project of Elias Fernandez and Doug Shafer, of Shafer Vineyards, continues to impress with this standout variety, sourced from Carneros, where the duo planted four acres of the variety a few years back. It's achingly pretty and substantive - exotic, complex and lingering, with sizzling acidity. Peach and honeysuckle stand out , while the texture is so sublime, you'll simply want more."
Winery Notes: The whole reason Eighty Four Wines exists is to explore what Napa Valley can produce with newcomer grape varieties. Albariño has been at the top of our list since the beginning. We love the clean acidity and the direct purity of the wines from Spain and wanted to see what the grape would do here. In 2012 we planted four acres in Napa Valley’s Carneros District and this is our first harvest. We gave it just four months on the lees in stainless steel barrels — no oak, no malolactic fermentation – so that the resulting wine would be fruity and refreshing. We’re pleased with the result and hope you are too.
Winemaker Elias Fernandez: “This is springtime in a bottle. The aromas and flavors are silky, sunny citrus blossom, white peach, honeysuckle, and dried apricot with a touch of lavender. Thanks to the lively acidity and austere minerality this abundance of fruit is clean and energetic from start to finish.
97+ Points Parker
New release from the former Hidden Ridge winery re-baptised Immortal Estate! Winemaker Philippe Melka and proprietor Tim Martin, owner of Tusk Estates.
97+ Points Robert Parker: "As for the 2014s, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Slope from the Hidden Ridge vineyard does not suffer in comparison with the extraordinary efforts of 2013. Still a barrel sample, its riveting richness, concentration, texture and density represent another legend in the making. Crème de cassis, licorice, blackberry, earthiness and spice are all present in this magnificent example of Cabernet Sauvignon that should age beautifully for 25-30+ years...
...When I first started doing my centralized tastings of the many wineries that I could not possibly have time to visit, one of the remarkable standouts for Cabernet Sauvignon was Hidden Ridge. These are clearly world-class Cabernet Sauvignons and should be considered by any serious collector for their cellars."
An exclusive Chateauneuf-du-Pape that is one of our favorite discoveries from the Rhone Valley. Tiny producer, great price and delicious bottle of wine make this a real winner.
The new 2017 was rated by the Revue du Vin de France (France’s most respected wine publication) as one of the 4 best Châteauneuf du Pape of the vintage – alongside Rayas, Capo de Pegau and Clos du Mont Olivet (at a price far less than those)!
We continue to hunt in the Rhône Valley for exciting emerging talent, and in Jérôme Gradassi we have struck the jackpot. Jérôme, 50 years old, was the boss and chef of a Michelin starred restaurant, L’Isle Sonnant in Avignon, until he sold it in 2003 to take up a mere 3½ hectares of vines left to him by his grandfather. In the cellar it’s all very traditional - into old stone tanks for the vinification, then a short ageing in old barrels. 75% Grenache. Scented, perfumed - very herbal and sweet on the nose - and with well-integrated fruits with a hint of cumin and white pepper. Much more accessible than most young Châteauneufs. This has the freshness of the vintage and is really a very accessible example. No rough edges. This has come on very nicely in bottle. Well done!
94 Points Pinot Report
A fantastic new Pinot Noir label from - get on the bandwagon now!
94 Points Pinot Report: "Medium-deep ruby color; bright spice and complex dark cherry aromas; complex dark cherry flavors with spice and loamy notes; silky texture; great structure and balance; long finish. Complex and rich Pinot with great flavors. This wine is an awesome value."
The 2016 vintage of the Sojourn Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir showcases a number of exceptional coastal vineyards. These vineyards span the whole breadth of Sonoma County, from the southern Petaluma Gap to northern Annapolis. Pinot noir from Sangiacomo and Rodgers Creek vineyards provide familiar lush textures and concentrated flavors. Campbell Ranch adds highlighted fruit characters. Riddle and Wohler vineyards add big ripe berry fruits and richness to this complex Pinot noir. The vintage shows bright aromas of crushed berries and dark cherries with notes of earth and forest floor, leading to lush textures and a long finish. A respected wine critic said it best "...a testament to the fact that an appellation blend in the hands of the right winemaker can be as good or better than a vineyard designate." This wine is a tremendous value at $39!
A fantastic red from Bedrock winemaker Morgan-Twain Peterson, one of the hottest young winemakers in California.
90 Points Robert Parker "Best Buy": "A Mediterranean blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Alicante Bouchet, Syrah and assorted mixed blacks fermented with native yeasts and aged in primarily neutral containers (15% in new French oak), it is a California version of a high-class Cotes du Rhone. Lots of berry fruit intermixed with lavender, pepper and meaty black cherry and black currant flavors emerge from this satisfying, round, expansive, generous red. An outstanding, killer value that should provide pleasure over the next 1-2 years. If there is a better value in California wine, I would like to know about it."
....Morgan Twain-Peterson is one of the most impressive young winemakers I have ever met, and it’s not just because he grew up the son of a famous producer. Making wines at this level requires talent, passion, hard work and a great palate, none of which is easily inherited. Along with Mike Officer of Carlisle, Twain-Peterson is on a mission to rediscover what he calls California’s old-vine “heritage” vineyards. These historic sites planted by California’s early immigrants, often home to unknown field blends, remain some of the most fascinating vineyards in California. Officer and Twain-Peterson were tired of seeing these old sites gobbled up by industrial-scale wineries, so they decided to do something about it. Bravo."
Another great new release from Dave Phinney at Orin Swift - extremely limited. Fragile is the inaugural rosé release from Orin Swift's Department 66 winery in Maury, France.
Pale salmon in color with a cherry blossom fringe, the wind brooms with perfume floral notes, blood orange zest, any hint of wild aniseed.casually acidic with soft Celine notes on the entry, the wind is vibrant and bright with dance read current flavors, crystallized strawberries, and a pink grapefruit court. And incisive finish with red berry skin extract is balanced with clean and lifting acidity.
Blend: predominately a blend of Grenache with small percentages of Syrah and Carignan.

A fantastic small-production red discovery!
Morgan Twain Peterson, winemaker for the super hot Bedrock label, has done it again. Sourced from two of the most best vineyard sites in Sonoma that have to remain nameless. Peterson crafted this blend of Syrah and Petite Sirah into a synergy of aromas and flavors. The wine is high-toned with savory and bold aromas of white pepper, rosemary, and black stone fruit that are nestled in the warming embrace of currant and blackberry. This wine has an amazing, lush body with bold black stone fruit flavors that linger on the palate. This wine is well-balanced, although young, shows tremendous potential. Only 580 cases produced.

Outpost is one of California's finest Zinfandel producers with winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown - limited.
Superstar winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown has completely bowled us over with the Outpost Howell Mountain Zinfandel, bursting as it is from the glass with aromas of lemon thyme, blueberry, fig newtons, dried blueberries, black cherry, all lilting above a palate with thrilling concentration. This is spectacular Zinfandel that simply knows exactly how good it is.
94 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Zinfandel Howell Mountain offers a complex bouquet of plums, mulberries, blood orange, and incense to go with a medium to full-bodied, supple, elegant style on the palate. It doesn’t quite have the oomph of the 2016, but I suspect it will put on weight over the course of its élevage and should drink nicely for over a decade as well."
91 Points Robert Parker: "Already bottled, the 2017 Zinfandel (100% Zinfandel) was aged for 16 months in French oak, 34% new. Medium garnet-purple colored, it gives up flamboyant cherry pie, raspberry preserves and blueberry compote notes with touches of Chinese five spice, Sichuan pepper, dusty soil, dried flowers and underbrush. Full-bodied, relatively taut and chewy, it sports bold freshness on the palate, laden with spicy red and blue fruit preserves, finishing long and perfumed."
93 Points Parker - New release
Inaugural release of a beautiful new Chardonnay from Beringer.
93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Chardonnay Luminus is done in a brighter, fresher style than the flagship Private Reserve Chardonnay. Much of that can be attributed to the cooler microclimate of the Big Ranch Road property in Oak Knoll. The Luminus is aged in equal parts French and Hungarian oak, the latter used for an accent of spice to complement the citrus and floral notes that are typical of this wine."
Robert Parker: "Beringer’s Chardonnay Luminus shows a touch of new oak, but this is meant to highlight the ripe tropical fruit of California’s Chardonnay. This wine displays tangerine and pineapple along with hints of pear, crème brûlée and citrus blossom. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity, it should drink nicely for another 3-4 years."
93 Points - new release
Altamura makes one of the best "under the radar" Cabernet Sauvignon's in Napa Valley. If you like the big cult Cabernet's, try this for a fraction of the price.
93 Points Robert Parker: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon rocks up with gregarious black cherries, blackcurrants and warm plums with hints of menthol, chocolate box and fragrant earth. Big, rich and full-bodied, with loads of minted black berry and earthy layers, it has a firm, grainy frame and fantastic length."
93 Points Wine Spectator: "Exhibits a tight core of vibrant blackberry, anise, gravel, cedar and tobacco leaf flavors, and though the tannins are study, this shows a measure of grace and harmony that bodes well for the future. Drink now through 2032."
Frank Altamura’s passion for detail is clearly defined by his richly textured, highly collectable wine. Founded in 1985 by Napa Valley natives Frank and Karen Altamura, Altamura Vineyards and Winery is located on the Altamura Ranch in Wooden Valley Road in Napa Valley where estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese are meticulously produced.
The Kistler 2018 Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay is a special blend of wines from Kistler's vineyards.
The Kistler Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay is of the same high quality as Kistler's single vineyard chardonnays but, through blending, they are able to create a high quality wine, with a consistent flavor profile. Rich, complex smoky aroma of perfect ripe fruit with a delicious noisette note, in a pleasing, Meursault-like style. In the mouth the wine is very delicious, displaying intense, fruit flavors underpinned with toasty oak and smoky flavors. The crisp acidity in the wine highlights the delicious fruit and makes it an excellent accompaniment to a wide range of foods. It is richly textured with a long, lingering finish.
Winery Notes: The Kistler plantings on Sonoma Mountain, situated on a hillside bench perfectly suited for growing world class Chardonnay, are interlaced with the rare combination of red volcanic and fine grained chalky soils. The vineyards are planted to California Heritage clones that were selected specifically over the last 30 years to ripen to our balanced wine standards. They are some of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in Sonoma County. When coupled with the selections in the vineyard the textbook growing conditions afford a wine that is decidedly Sonoma Mountain in character. Annually some of our earliest vineyard pickings each year, this is a wine driven by a grounded, focused mineral core yet lifted by striking ethereal tones of vibrant light fruit raised at elevation.

92 Points James Suckling: "Lots of black currant and blackberry aromas with hints of wet earth and spice cake. Medium body with a solid center palate of ripe fruit and fine tannins. Soft and silky. Delicious finish."
90 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County is outstanding and reveals a ruby/purple color, attractive notes of black cherry and blackberry fruits, plenty of tobacco leaf and graphite, medium body, and nicely integrated acidity. It’s a classic Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon that tastes like it cost 3-4 times the price. It will keep for a decade."
90 Points Robert Parker: "Blended of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot and 1% Petite Sirah aged 14 months in 50% new French oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Olema is deep garnet-purple colored and features textbook cassis, warm plums ad blackberries notions with hints of cedar, sandalwood and menthol. The Newton "Unfiltered" Chardonnay has just been released - always one of California's finest Chardonnays! Newton Vineyards is one of the great vineyard estates of Spring Mountain with neighbors like Cain, Pride Mountain and Paloma. Their highly-rated Unfiltered Chardonnay sells out every year.
93 Points Robert Parker: "Newton’s unfiltered Chardonnay has been a consistent winner since it was first launched in the early 1980s, when the fruit was coming from what is today John Kongsgaard’s Judge cuvée. Newton is still making this wine unfiltered, and the Chardonnay Unfiltered is rich and displays beautiful white peach, honeysuckle and tropical fruit, some nice, crisp wet pebble minerality in the background and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Deep, layered and complete, this is a big-time winner.....
...This cuvée has been one of California’s great classic Chardonnays for over two decades. It also has remarkable aging potential. In the early years, much of the credit went to some of the talented people who worked here, including John Kongsgaard, Luc Morlet and Michel Rolland."

New release! The Dairyman Vineyard Pinot Noir is the newest addition to the Belle Glos lineup.
The 2017 Belle Glos Dairyman Vineyard Pinot Noir, sourced from the southern alluvial plains of Russian River Valley, where the proximity to the Pacific Ocean creates cool morning fog and afternoon breezes resulting in an uncommonly long growing season. Once an old dairy farm and pastureland, this site has since realized its true potential as a prime Pinot Noir vineyard.
Tasting Notes: The color is quite striking, with the brilliant red ruby hue hinting at the luscious fruit to come. The aromas are abundant with bright cherry, cranberry and brown spice, reminiscent of warm cinnamon toast topped with plum jam. On the palate, the bright cherry opens the show, then evolves into a lush, sweetly spiced plum pudding, coating the mouth with a velvety richness. The acidity is as vibrant as the color, lifting the medley of fruit to lavish heights and augmenting the spicy tones. The wine then develops an intense mineral note, adding yet another dimension, lending way to silky tannins and a lengthy finish that will leave you wanting more.
Thomas Brown Cab - 95 Points
New limited-release Cabernet from winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Limited.
95 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made by superstar winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Post Parade is a ripe, decadent 2016 that makes the most of the vintage. Tons of ripe black raspberries and cassis flow to a wine that has full-bodied richness, a sumptuous, exuberant texture, no sensation of weight or heaviness, and terrific purity. This wine is all Cabernet Sauvignon and was brought up in 90% new French oak. It’s a pleasure-bent beauty to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years."
92+ Points Robert Parker: "Made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 90% new French oak, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has a fragrant nose of crushed blueberries, crème de cassis and potpourri with hints of tree bark, espresso and olives. The palate is full, rich and concentrated with a velvety texture and tons of black fruit and earthy layers on the long, seductive finish. 510 cases produced."
After visiting Napa countless of times, three friends from Kentucky decided that it was time to make their own label. Enlisting the help of Frank and Kathy Dotzler (Outpost), and the most acclaimed winemaker in Napa today, Thomas Brown (Schrader, etc), they got everything they needed to make a killer bottle of wine. Post Parade is sourced from the Red Head Vineyard in Napa and the Tench Vineyard in Oakville. Thomas says that the Red Head vineyard gives structure, while the Tench Vineyard provides generosity, and we agree. Big, lush, and velvety smooth valley floor fruit mingles perfectly with the sweet tannic structure of Red Head’s hillside fruit.

Butternut is the newest offering from Tony Leonardini, whose family owns Whitehall Lane. With premium Chardonnay from Carneros and from western Napa Valley, Tony aged this wine in 100% new French oak, imparting a buttery, nutty roundness to the flavor profile. At under $20 it totally over-delivers.
The Butternut Chardonnay is a wine that lives up to its name. It has round, creamy notes, hints of hazelnut and a finish that doesn’t want to quit. Grapes from the regions of Carneros and Coombsville in Napa and Santa Lucia and Arroyo Seco in Monterey broaden the flavor profile of Butternut. The wine spent 14 months on 110 percent new French Oak.
For years, Pam Starr (Crocker & Starr, Adastra) and Drew Neiman (previously assistant winemaker at Kongsgaard and Arietta) have been crafting exceptional wines under their own labels. Now they have joined together for the new release previously known as Bridesmaid.
Deep ruby in color, the wine displays a gorgeous nose of ripe raspberry and warm Mexican chocolate with a dash of chili. Silky tannins and medium body elegantly frame the fruit on the palate along with malt that lingers through the wine’s lengthy and seamless finish. Our AVA Napa Valley blend of Cabernet Franc is drinking beautifully now and will cellar well over the next ten years.
Robert Parker: "This is a brilliant project putting together blends that are declassified from other wineries…These are impressively put together wines.”
One of the best buys of the year - a fantastic Red Blend that sells for a song from master winemaker Mark Herold. If you like Blends like The Prisoner you'll LOVE this!
92 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2015 Collide is outrageously beautiful. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, lavender, chocolate, menthol and creme de cassis infuse this bold, flavorful wine. This blend of 42% Petite Sirah, 30% Tempranillo, 25% Graciano and 3% Carignan will be impossible to resist over the next handful of years."
Another beautiful small-production Pinot Noir from Walter Hansel who continues to make a small amount of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay down the road from Kistler, at unbelievably sane prices. Stock up while available.
94 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Pinot Noir The North Slope Vineyard is one of the more voluptuous, racy wines in this range. Ample and creamy, with tremendous resonance, the 2017 has a lot to offer. Plush fruit and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable immediacy and overall appeal."
Robert Parker: "...Some of the best values in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir emerge from Stephen Hansel’s winery in the Russian River Valley. All of the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are bottled unfiltered. This is a source for very fine Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs at some of the most realistic prices to be found in Northern California."
A Brix26 exclusive, Pierre Morlet's "Grand Reserve" is a Premier Cru Champagne at a fraction of the price of its peers. Mostly distributed in France, very little has made it to the U.S. until now.
The Morlet family has been cultivating vineyards in Avenay-Val-d'Or since the early 1800's and, after four generations, Champagne Pierre Morlet et Fils has become synonymous in France for authentic and handcrafted Champagnes. Interestingly, Pierre Morlet's grandson Nicolas is currently a consulting winemaker at Napa Valley's cultish Peter Michael Winery.
Extremely limited Paloma 2014 Merlot. Get the new vintage before the ratings come out! This tiny winery on Spring Mountain rocketed from obscurity to collector status overnight when the 2001 vintage was chosen as Wine Spectator's 'No. 1 Wine in the World' and ever since has been hard to get.
94 Points Brix26: "The Merlot is once again a blend of Estate Merlot and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wine is a big, world-class red wine capable of improving with bottle aging for 10 to 15 years. Complex aromas of black berry fruits, black stone fruits, chocolate, tobacco, spice and floral notes with a mineral overtone. On the palate the wine has a big silky mouth feel, well balanced, with flavors of berries, fruit, cocoa, cassis, and spice, and a long spicy finish."
