Great new discovery
One of our favorite new discoveries from Santa Barbara, a delicious red blend we highly recommend.

93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):
"The 2014 Escondrijo, a Grenache/Syrah-based blend, is dark, plush and inviting, offering plenty of red plum and cherry fruit. The textural richness that is typical of Rhône varieties in the Santa Ynez valley comes through nicely. This is another absolutely delicious wine in the Refugio Ranch lineup."

The 2014 Escondrijo (the name means ”hideaway” in Spanish) is a blend of 55% grenache, 39% syrah, and 6% petite sirah. This wine offers a lovely walk in a rose garden - potpourri, bouquet garni, and hints of orange peel alongside mixed berry and baking spices. As feminine as the nose suggests, the wine holds nothing back on the palate, delivering concentration and layers of fruit, savory earthiness, and a slate graphite vein of minerality. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak.
