One of Napa Valley's most collectible Cabernets - very limited
94 Points Robert Parker: "In a similar vein, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is rich, round and immediate. Raspberry jam, cloves, licorice and mint all meld together nicely. This is a lovely Dr. Crane, although it is naturally smaller in size than the 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026...
...One of the greatest attributes of the Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignons is their ability to deliver incredible pleasure throughout their entire lives. I tasted a wide range of wines this year with Paul Hobbs and winemaker Megan Baccitich, including several past vintages of the flagship To Kalon, which confirmed that view. In particular, the 2001 and 2002 To Kalon Cabernets remain stunning, and the straight 1999 Napa Valley Cabernet was equally impressive."
A great new Chardonnay from one of California's most celebrated winemakers Paul Hobbs. Crossbarn is his new label and a fantastic value in high-end Chardonnay.
Robert Parker: "A stunning bargain is the Chardonnay CrossBarn, which was aged in 75% stainless steel, was put through 100% malolactic, and 15% was barrel fermented in order to provide a subtle hint of spice. Made in a steely, Chablis-like style, it offers up full-bodied tropical fruit notes intermixed with hints of honeysuckle and crushed rocks. Drink this 4,000-case beauty over the next several years."
Great new Pinot from Paul Hobbs
A great new Pinot Noir release from one of California's most celebrated winemakers Paul Hobbs. Crossbarn is his new label and a great alternative to Hobbs regular Pinot Noir.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast: " A beautiful Pinot Noir. Plays in the major leagues, with its refined texture and complex flavors of cherries, raspberries, licorice and sandalwood, with along, spicy finish. Feels so lush and fine, so delectable, so dramatic. This is one of the best Pinots available for drinking now."
A true second label, CrossBarn is culled from the same vineyards as Hobbs’ estate wine. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged twenty months in French and American oak barrels, the Crossbarn 2013 Cabernet is bottled both unfined and unfiltered. Awesome juice from a winemaking paragon.
previous vintage 91 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon Crossbarn is a gorgeous, fruit-driven wine bursting with dark red fruit, new leather, spices and licorice. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout in this beautifully delineated, entry-level Cabernet. The final blend includes 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Hobbs uses a touch of American oak for this Crossbarn label. The main vineyards are State Lane and Mast, both in Yountville"
