A fantastic new Cab blend from Kobalt's Mark Herold.
The 2012 Window Pane (68% Cabernet Sauvignon; 27% Petite Sirah & 5% Carignane) oozes with very fragrant ripe black raspberry and blackberry jam aromas. It is juicy, full bodied and loaded with extracted fruit yet balanced and very suave. The aroma and flavor profile consists of: ripe black currant and blackberry with complex hints of dark chocolate, boysenberry, and plum with notes of cinnamon and hints of black cherry. The finish is accentuated by wisps of gentle oak and dry but moderate tannins that integrate with the dark fruit and linger nicely on the palate.
previous vintage 93 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon-based Window Pane wraps around the palate with layers of dark plums, olives, cassis, leather and scorched earth. With time in the glass, the wine fleshes out nicely. This is an absolutely gorgeous bottle of wine from Kobalt. The 2010 is an unusual blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petite Sirah and 7% Carignane/Graciano, but it all works beautifully. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018...Mark Herold makes these delicious wines for Kobalt. All of the Mark Herold projects have their own distinctive signatures, and that is very much the case here as well."

94 Point Robert Parker: "From a vintage that had big yields and heavy cluster weights (harvest started mid-September and finished late in October), the 2014 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard (saw 11 months in 50% new oak) is a stunner that's up with the creme de la creme of the vintage. Forest floor, strawberries, plums, earth and underbrush all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, elegant and silky Pinot Noir that has fine tannin, no hard edges and impeccable balance. It's another terrific wine from winemaker Andrew Vingiello....Winemaker Andrew Vingiello continues to make a bevy of brilliant wines. They’re always packed with fruit, yet never lose typicity or soul. All of these Pinot Noirs were mostly destemmed (a few have 25% whole cluster) and aged in French oak barrels, with an average of 50% new."
