DuMOL make some of the best and most sought-after wines from the Russian River Valley and California including this rare Viognier white. Limited.
The DuMOL 2018 Viognier comes from a small vineyard near where the winery sources its Syrah. DuMol has been making this wine since 2000. Tasting notes by winemaker Andy Smith: "One senses the wine’s concentration on its aromas alone: fresh apricot, white lily, white peach and tense minerals with an edge of spearmint and white pepper. The powerful entry, tangy and deep, coats the palate with honeyed nectarine and oily lemon zest flavors.
Rare white viognier from cult Napa producer Araujo. Limited.
Viognier was planted for blending with our Sauvignon Blanc, and is also used to co-ferment with our Syrah. An unreliable bearer, Viognier in some years provides us with enough crop to bottle on its own, producing a profoundly aromatic and seductive wine redolent of honey, apricots, orange blossoms and spice.
A deliciously crisp rose from Belle Glos, a perfect California version that will transport you to summer in the South of France.
To capture this shade along with the wine's crisp acidity and bold berry flavors, they lightly press the fresh Pinot Noir juice from the whole clusters, then allow it a brief love affair with spicy French oak barrels during and after fermentation. Oeil-de-perdrix--French for "eye of the partridge"--is a traditional term for this wine's seductive, jewel-like color. Enjoy it well chilled with raw or grilled seafood, or on its own as a warm-weather refresher.
Tasting notes: Vibrant rose-salmon color. Pronounced aromas of ripe strawberry and green apple are supported by an undertone of light oak. The flavors are lively with cranberry and citrus zest notes. The full, lush mouthfeel is balanced by a brisk acidity and mineral elements, leading to a long-lasting finish..
