99 Points
Rare release of one of Bordeaux's top-scoring wines from Chateau Pape Clement. Limited.

99 Points Robert Parker: "Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Chateau Pape Clement struts flamboyantly out of the glass, featuring beautifully opulent preserved black fruits, Morello cherries and Chinese five spice with underlying notions of truffles, iron ore and tobacco plus a waft of sandalwood. Full-bodied, the voluptuous fruit has a firm foundation of super ripe, grainy tannins and bags of freshness supporting layer upon layer of black fruit, exotic spices and earth-laced flavors, finishing very long."

Château Pape Clément is a renowned Bordeaux wine estate with a rich history and exceptional viticultural heritage. Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of the Bordeaux region in France, it stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in the area. The estate's origins date back to the 13th century when it was owned by Bertrand de Goth, who later became Pope Clement V. This historical connection is where the estate derives its name. Over the centuries, Château Pape Clément has seen various owners and undergone significant transformations, but it has always maintained its commitment to producing exceptional wines.

The vineyards span across nearly 60 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes. The estate's wines, particularly the Grand Cru Classé, are highly sought after for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully. With its storied past, stunning architecture, and commitment to winemaking excellence, Château Pape Clément continues to be a beloved icon of Bordeaux's winemaking heritage.
