95 Points Brix26: "This is a truly complete Chardonnay, possessed of enormous richness, fine varietal definition and the terroir characteristics associated with its famous vineyard. The nose brings forth plush peach, apple skin, baked apple, vanilla cream and toasted coconut scents, in fine harmony. Things are deeper still on the palate, which feels drenched in mouth-coating spiced-apple pie, peach tart, toasted nut, coconut and crème brulee flavors that are balanced both by chiseled mineral notes and brisk fruit acidity. At the end, the flavor seems almost panoramic, and everything lingers beautifully. It should get still better over the next few years. 7 barrels produced."
92 Points Wine Spectator: "Builds on subtle, rich, layers of ripe fig, honeydew melon and light toasty oak. Impressive for its creamy texture and layered finish. Drink now through 2017."
A great new small-production Pinot Noir from CHasseur from the 'true Sonoma Coast.'
With a deep ruby hue this wine is everything Pinot Noir. Both depth of fruit and a sense of wound strength are apparent in the aromas of this youthful Pinot. Aromas of strawberry, black raspberry and dried rose petals burst from the glass with undertones of clove, leather and juniper berry. The flavors carry through on the pallet which is richer than the aromas predict. This impressive bottling can be enjoyed with great pleasure already, but will continue to impress over the next two or three years.
Another stunning Pinot Noir from Chasseur Cellars!
Bill Hunter is making some of the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the fabled Sonoma Coast appelation with neighbors like Kistler and Marcassin. Small-production, hard to find, discover them now before it's too late. Previous vintage 92 Points Wine Spectator.
Both depth of fruit and a sense of coiled strength are apparent in the aromas of the Chasseur 2012 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, as its dark core of cherry and grenadine is neatly counter-pointed by savory notes of roasted grain, dried orange and tobacconist-shop spice. It is rich in texture, with a sinewy palate-feel and plenty of fruit, firmed by polished tannins. The impression of youth is amplified in the lingering finish, which is a tightly wound mix of sweet pomegranate, red plum, roasted grain, sumac and dried orange.

This is cool-climate vineyard in the Russian River that was first made famous by John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley and subsequently by Landmark Vineyards. The Chasseur 2012 Lorenzo Chardonnay displays exquisite peach, honeyed citrus, orange rind and lemon oil notes with hints of wet rock/minerality. Medium to full-bodied, with stunning concentration, texture, and length, this is a profound Chardonnay to drink over the next 5-7 years, possibly longer.
