Chamisal Vineyards 2007 Califa Chardonnay, Edna Valley

Brix26

A fantastic recent discovery in Edna Valley outside of San Luis Obispo, Domaine Alfred is setting a new standard for the region and putting them at the forefront of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Previous vintages have all scored 90+ points!

The name "Califa" means "most beautiful one" in a local native language, and each barrel of the vintage is tasted many times after fermentation to select the most opulent, terroir-driven wines for this designation.  The 2007 Califa Chardonnay boasts a ripe citrus nose with underlying notes of vanilla and toast from aromatic French oak that leads beautifully into a graceful palate of golden pear, pineapple and tangerine zest.  Balanced by the refreshing acidity, the lush and creamy mouthfeel lingers with hints of butterscotch and nutmeg.
