Kathryn and Craig Hall are making some of Napa Valley's best wines in their state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills of Rutherford.   The Merlot is the sleeper of the vintage!
An expressive duet from two of our premier estate vineyards. Merlot from our Hardester Ranch is planted in limiting soils on a hillside enclave to promote intensely concentrated small berries with tremendous structure and backbone. The cool valley-floor fruit of Napa River Ranch endows generous red fruit and a velvety texture. Anticipate an alluring nose of Bing cherry, violets, cocoa and baking spice which unrolls seamlessly on the tongue to a rich, elegant mid-palate. Expressive flavors of dark cherry, toasted oak and blackberry jam will continue to evolve for the next 5-7 years.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast - 'Editors’ Choice': “A rich, dense, vital Merlot, one of the best of the vintage. Offers loads of cherry, green olive, roasted meat and pepper flavors, wrapped into firm tannins leading to a distinguished finish. Dry and elegant, it’s a beautiful wine to decant and drink soon with steak, chops, lamb.”

Kathryn and Craig Hall are making some of Napa Valley's best Cabernets in their state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills of Rutherford. Get the new vintage before it sells out.
93 Points Wine Spectator: "This packs in some serious plum compote and cassis flavors, liberally wrapped in dark licorice and finishing with a swath of sweet toast and tobacco on the broad finish. Nice mineral underpinning keeps it honest. Fairly accessible despite its heft."
previous vintage 94 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "A smoking value, the Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers classic notes of blackcurrant and blackberry fruits intermixed with more earthy, tapenade, and olive-like aromas and flavors. It too is full-bodied, has remarkable purity, a seamless texture, and a beautiful finish. It tastes like it cost 2-3 times the price.”
Robert Parker: "...This is a thrilling set of wines from Hall. The estate favors a rich, extroverted style, yet all of these wines have distinct personalities and tons of sheer character. Meticulous viticulture followed by native yeast fermentations, slow, natural malos and minimal rackings are at the heart of the approach at Hall. The wines are aged in French oak (mostly Taransaud, 40-90% new) and are bottled with no fining or filtration. Readers who appreciate the more opulent side of Napa Valley will find much to admire here. Simply put, I was blown away by what I tasted."

Rare reserve Kathryn Hall; Cabernet from Hall - made in small quantities.
97 Points Robert Parker:Â "A barrel sample of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot, the Hall 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is opaque purple-black colored with a beautiful perfume of bold black currants, Black Forest cake and aniseed with candied violets, ripe red and black plums and rose hip tea notions plus a waft of forest floor. The full-bodied palate is a little closed and tightly wound with elegant, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant....
...Kathryn Hall’s winery is certainly one of the more dramatic as well as up-and-coming superstars of Napa Valley. It seems every effort is made to propel these wines into the very top echelon of quality. There is not a lot to criticize with the multitude of bottlings, all of which offer considerable character and appeal."
