Elyse 2005 Morisoli Vineyard Zinfandel, Napa Valley

Awesome new release from one of our favorite small Napa Zin producers! If you aren't familiar with the reds from Elyse try them now as they always sell out fast. Old-vine Zin from the famed Morisoli Vineyard in the heart of the Rutherford Bench.

The Elyse 2005 Morisoli Vineyard Zinfandel Napa Valley is deep purplish ruby in color and reveals intense aromas of sweet briary fruit, dried herbs and cr?me de cassis. Intoxicating aromas are followed by a cornucopia of flavors including black raspberries, wild cherries, black currants and orange zest, along with nutmeg and slightly peppery spice. It exhibits nice harmony with well-integrated wood and acidity. This gracefully complex wine is full bodied with a creamy texture, soft tannins, and a long lingering finish.

Try this wine with anything from rich tomato dishes (like a spicy puttanesca sauce or vegetable ragout), to peppered seared steak, osso buco or an after dinner selection of rich cheeses. This elegant expression of Zinfandel will drink beautifully now, but reward yourself by putting a few of these away for drinking 5-9 years down the road.
